14 15 Girls Basketball Game 12 - Sequim 35, Port Angeles 33

Sequim girls beat Port Angeles 35-33

January 9th, 2015 - 11:53pm

(Sequim) -- Jordan Miller hit a left-wing triple with 5 seconds left, sending the Sequim Wolves to a 35-33 victory over the Port Angeles Roughriders at Rick Kaps Gym.
The triumph by the Sequim girls broke a 15-game losing streak to Port Angeles, dating back to January 19th, 2007, when Greg Glasser, now the boys hoops mentor for the Wolves, coached the Lady Wolves to a 62-49 win in Sequim.
The Lady Wolves lost three games to P-A in the 2007-2008 season, then the streak continued with a pair of losses in the next 6 campaigns.
The Port Angeles contingent in the huge Rick Kaps Gym crowd roared with approval when Nizhoni Wheeler scored to put the Riders ahead 33-32 with 30 seconds left, the first P-A lead of the second half.
Wheeler was held to 6 points by a packed-in Sequim defense, all her tallies coming in the final quarter.
After a Sequim timeout by Coach Evan Still with 18 seconds left, the Wolves' Kylee Williams drove the right side of the lane with 10 ticks left and found Miller open on the left wing for the game winning shot.
P-A's Maddie Boe was short on a final triple attempt as the final buzzer sounded and pantemonium broke out in the Sequim rooting sections.

Caitlin Stofferahn was the game-high scorer for Sequim 11 points, canned 6 of 8 free throws.
Victoria Cummins paced the Wolves with 9, while Adrienne Haggerty and Miller had 5 points apiece.
Lauren Lunt, Emily Johnson and Wheeler had 6 tallies each for the Roughriders.
Port Angeles (5-7 overall and 1-3 in Olympic League 2A division play) travels to Bremerton Monday night, when the Wolves (6-6 overall and 3-2 in Olympic League action) host North Kitsap.
