Sequim boys defeat Port Angeles 52-46

(Sequim) -- Alex Barry rifled in 28 points as the Sequim High Wolves beat the Port Angeles Roughriders 52-46 Friday night in Olympic League 2A Division boys action at Rick Kaps Gym.
The Wolves pulled out to an early 9-2 advantage but a 10-3 Port Angeles run ended the opening quarter in a 12-12 deadlock.
Nathan Angevine had a first period triple on the way to an 8 point outing and Lambros Rogers tallied 5 of his 12 markers in the opening frame.
Barry had two long-range howitzers in the second quarter as the Wolves outscored P-A 14-9, going to the locker room ahead 26-21, Barry with 17.
In the second half, Barry responded to every Port Angeles challenge with another basket, as the Wolves were ahead 40-34 going to the final period.
The Riders' Grayson Peet tied the game at 46 on a triple that was answered by Barry's trey with 1:37 left that put the Wolves ahead for good.
Peet finished with 8 points before fouling out with 12 seconds left.
Vance Willis had a key drive to the hoop for a basket with 44 seconds remaining that put Sequim up 51-46.
Willis and Jackson Oliver paced the Wolves with 8 points apiece.
Hunter Hathaway had 10 points for P-A, while point guard Dustin Bates tossed in 5 and Payton Glasser added 3 for Sequim.
The Wolves extended their winning streak over their arch-rivals to seven games, the last Rider win coming on February 8th, 2011 at the Rider Gym -- 57-49.
Port Angeles (4-8 overall and 1-3 in Olympic League 2A Division play) host Bremerton Monday night at the Rider Gym.
Sequim (7-5 overall and 3-2 in Olympic League 2A Division action) travel to Poulsbo Monday for a matchup with the North Kitsap Vikings.
