Barry hits for 37 as Sequim beats Neah Bay

(Neah Bay) -- Alex Barry scored a career-high 37 points as the Sequim Wolves knocked off previously unbeaten Neah Bay 84-64 Wednesday night.
The 2A Wolves raced out to a 23-12 advantage as Barry tallied 10 first quarter points.
Neah Bay, the top-ranked 1B team in Washington, closed to 25-22, but the Wolves surged into intermission on a 21-9 run, leading 46-31 after 16 minutes, Barry with 20 points.
Sequim pushed the lead to 20 before Neah Bay closed within 16 after three quarters -- 60-44.
Red Devil guard Abe Venske had a team-high 28 markers, including 13 of 15 free throws.
Neah Bay managed one final push, getting the lead down to 10, but Barry poured in 10 fourth period points and the Wolves pulled away again.
Payton Glasser and Jackson Oliver paced Sequim with a dozen points apiece and Dustin Bates added 10.
Jongi Claplanhoo had 10 for the Red Devils, while John Reamer and Kendrick Doherty added 8 apiece.
Barry's 37 markers tied a 1997-98 effort by Chad Jacobs as the fourth highest single-game scoring performance in Sequim history.
Jacobs had the school record of 41 against North Kitsap, also in 1997-98.
Neah Bay (5-1 overall) hosts Crescent for a girls-boys twin bill Friday, when Sequim (6-5 overall) meets Port Angeles at Rick Kaps Gym , also for a girls-boys doubleheader.
