North Kitsap squeaks by Sequim boys 53-50

(Poulsbo) -- North Kitsap's Ethan Graebner dropped a pair of free throws with 5 seconds left and Sequim's Adrian Espinoza missed a potential game-tying trey at the buzzer, as the Vikings squeezed past the Wolves 53-50 Monday night.
Sequim's Alex Barry was the catalyst for the Wolves' fourth quarter comeback, canning 19 of his 23 in the second half and 10 in the final period.
Sequim trailed 46-40, but ran off 6 straight, tying the game at 46-46 on a Barry basket with 3:09 left.
Graebner, who had a team-high 14 for North, had a steal and a solo layup with 2 minutes remaining, putting the Vikings up 50-48.
Barry tied the score again at 48 with 1:33 to go, before North's Sean Crowell put the Vikings up 50-48 on 2 free throws with 1:23 left.
The Vikings' David Perry downed 1 of 2 charity tosses with 13 seconds to go, leaving NK ahead 51-48.
Sequim's Barry was fouled on a triple attempt with 6 seconds remaining, missing the first of three freebies before dropping the final two, closing the Wolves to 51-50.
Five ties and 7 lead changes early
It was a nip-and-tuck first quarter with the score tied at 12 after eight minutes.
The final lead change came in the second quarter, when North went ahead 17-16.
Vance Willis had numerous baskets on putbacks and drives in the first half, keeping Sequim within striking distance, with 15 of his 19 points coming prior to intermission, when the Wolves trailed 27-25.
North Kitsap went to the final quarter ahead 41-38.
Brooks Ellingsen and Cole Rabedeaux paced the Vikings with 10 points apiece.
Sequim (7-5 overall and 3-3 in Olympic League 2A Division play) travel to Chimacum on Wednesday.
North Kitsap (9-4 overall and 4-1 in Olympic League action) plays at Bremerton on Wednesday.
Girls score
In the girls game at Rick Kaps Gym in Sequim, North Kitsap beat Sequim 54-50. No details were reported.
