Sequim boys drop Kingston 47-35

(Sequim) -- The Sequim Wolves boys basketball team beat the Kingston Buccaneers 47-35 Tuesday night at Rick Kaps Gym.

Alex Barry had top honors for the Wolves with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 7 steals and an assist.

Kingston creeped back into the affair after the Wolves led 13-3 after one quarter.

The Bucs evened things up 10-10 in the second quarter, but still trailed 23-13 at intermission.

Kingston held Sequim to a single point in the third period, closing the deficit to 24-22.

The Wolves asserted themselves in the final 8 minutes, finishing the contest on a 23-13 run.

Josh McConnaughey had 8 tallies, Dustin Bates had 6, Vance Willis 5, Jackson Oliver 4 and Payton Glasser 3.

Willis and McConnaughey were the top rebounders for the Wolves with 9 each.

Sequim improved to 10-6 overall and 5-3 in Olympic League 2A Division play, continuing to hold third place in the standings, 2 games behind league leading North Kitsap and Olympic.

Kingston dropped to 5-11 overall and 1-8 in circuit action.

Sequim travels to Olympic Friday night, when the Bucs host Bremerton.

Kingston beats Sequim 61-29 in girls hoops

In the girls game at Kingston, the Buccaneers dominated the Wolves 61-29. No details were reported.

The Bucs stretched their Olympic League 2A Division-leading record to 8-0 and 13-1 overall.

Skylar Bakken had a game-high 17 for the Bucs and Katelyn Carper added 12.

Victoria Cummins had 9 for the Wolves, while Adrienne Haggerty chipped in 7.

The Lady Wolves continue as the third place team in the league standings at 4-4 and 8- overall, hosting Olympic Friday night.
