North Mason beats Sequim boys 60-53

(Belfair) -- Matt Becker scored 12 of his 23 points in the final quarter as the North Mason Bulldogs downed the Sequim Wolves 60-53 Tuesday night.
Daulton Geyer scorched the nets for 5 triples in a 17 point effort for the Bulldogs, who broke an eight-game losing skein against the Wolves.
North Mason took the lead 6-5 early and never relinquished the advantage, leading 15-8 at the first buzzer.
The Bulldogs continued a 22-7 run and were ahead 24-12, before a 13-5 spurt by the Wolves closed the gap to 29-25 at intermission.
Sequim's Alex Barry had a team-high 16 points, 11 in the first half.
The Wolves closed to within a point on two occasions early in the third frame, but Geyer fired in consecutive howitzers to put the Bulldogs up 43-35 going to the final stanza.
Jackson Oliver had 4 treys for Sequim, tallying 12 markers.
North Mason pushed the lead to 13 points, but a Sequim press in the final minutes closed the final score within single digits.
Prior to Tuesday, North Mason's last win over Sequim was in an Olympic League post-season tournament game at Klahowya Secondary School on February 19th, 2010 -- 41-33.
Sequim (5-5 overall and 2-2 in Olympic League 2A division play) has lost four straight and travels to Neah Bay for a boys and girls doubleheader Wednesday beginning at 5 p.m.
North Mason (5-5 overall and 1-2 in league action) plays at Bremerton Friday.
Girls game
In the girls game at Rick Kaps Gym, Sequim defeated North Mason 72-38. No details were reported.
