(Port Townsend) -- A missed Port Townsend shot in the final seconds allowed the Sequim Lady Wolves to escape Bruce Blevins Gym Wednesday night with a 42-40 Olympic League victory.
Sequim led by 8 early in the final period, but Port Townsend chopped into the deficit by hitting 7 of 9 free throws.
Hanging onto a 2 point lead with 10 seconds left, Sequim's Hailey Lester missed the front end of a one-and-one opportunity, leaving the door open for overtime or a Redskins win by trey.
Port Townsend (6-7 overall, 3-6 in Olympic League play) rushed the ball into front court, but the officials stopped play with 4 seconds left after umpire Scott Ramsey tumbled to the floor near the Redskins bench.
The game resumed after Ramsey was assisted from the court, Port Townsend inbounding under its own basket.
Rilke Rutenbeck hit Jayde Richardson on the left baseline, but her final 2 point shot skipped over the rim.
Richardson and Sequim's Alexas Besand shared game-high scoring honors with 15 points apiece.
