Bremerton boys 58, Sequim 49
(Bremerton) -- An 11-0 first half surge propelled the Bremerton Knights to a 58-49 victory over the Sequim High Wolves Monday night.
Bremerton completes the first rotation of the Olympic League boys basketball schedule undefeated at 8-0 and 10-2 overall.
Sequim fell to 8-4 overall and 6-2 in league.
The Knights had the hot hands early, swishing 4 triples in the opening stanza, with a pair from Tarez Mason, who scored 8 of his 13 markers in the first 8 minutes.
Bremerton forged ahead 18-10 after the first buzzer, on a 5-0 streak.
The Wolves couldn't connect during the opening 3 minutes of the second period, finding themselves down by 14 at 24-10.
The Knights led 32-20 at intermission as Skyler Lewis had 9 of his 13 tallies.
Bremerton continued to hold the double-digit advantage after a sluggish third period -- 41-30.
A basket by Anthony Pinza with 6 minutes left got Sequim's deficit within 9 at 43-34.
Bremerton's Deonte Dixon had 10 of his game-high 16 points in the final quarter.
Sequim pulled within 5 points at 50-45 on a 25-foot howitzer from Alex Barry, but couldn't close the gap down the stretch.
Barry had a team-high 14 points, Pinza added 13 and Erik Christensen had 9.
The Wolves travel to Port Townsend Wednesday, while Bremerton visits Kingston.
In girls action Monday night at Rick Kaps Gym, Sequim squeaked by Bremerton 61-60.
