Sequim boys 51, Port Townsend 40

(Port Townsend) -- Alex Barry splashed a pair of treys in the final 3 minutes that gave the Sequim High Wolves some breathing room and an Olympic League boys hoops victory over the Port Townsend Redskins 51-40 Wednesday.
Sequim led 34-25 after three quarters, but Town's Paul Spaltenstein buried two triples, charging up the home crowd and narrowing Sequim's lead to 36-31.
Anthony Pinza put the Wolves up 38-32 with 4:05 on a coast-to-coast drive to the rack.
Spaltenstein dropped in a pair of free throws with 3:13 left the close the PT deficit to 38-34.
Barry's first triple extended the Wolves advantage to 41-34, but Jacob King answered with a two-pointer for the 'Skins with 2:36 left cutting the lead to 5.
A second long-range salvo by Barry pushed Sequim ahead 44-36 with 2:36 remaining.
In the early going, there were 4 lead changes before the Wolves went ahead 10-8 on Vance Willis' second triple of the opening stanza.
After the quarter ended with a 14-8 Sequim advantage, the Wolves continued a run of 15 consecutive points.
Port Townsend (4-8 overall, 2-7 in Olympic League play) was able to chop the 22-8 deficit with a 9-0 surge fueled by three baskets from Jacob King.
King and Sequim's Barry shared game-high scoring honors with 14.
Pinza added 13 for the Wolves, canning 5 of 6 charity tosses in the final frame.
Port Townsend visits Kingston Friday, while Sequim travels to play the Olympic High in an important contest in the boys Olympic League standings.
