(Silverdale) -- Lynden feasted upon 5 Sequim turnovers Saturday night that powered the Lions to a 31-0 shutout of the Wolves in the State 2A football quarterfinals.

The 11-1 Lions move to the semifinals next Saturday morning at 10 in the Tacoma Dome against Archbishop Murphy, a 14-7 winner over W.F. West of Chehalis.

The teams struggled to a scoreless tie over the first 20 minutes of the contest, playing in a driving, wind-swept rain at Silverdale Stadium.

Lynden led 7-0 when quarterback Jordan Hastings scored on a 4-yard touchdown run with 5:07 left in the first half.

The Lions' three-play scoring drive was set up at the Sequim 13 after a fumble by Sequim's Drew Rickerson.

Another Sequim fumble, recovered by Lynden at the Sequim 33 with 2 minutes until intermission, led to the Lions second score.

Hastings hit Blair Bomber with a 19-yard touchdown strike, putting the Whatcom County club up 14-0 at halftime.

Lynden had 70 yards at halftime, while Sequim was held to 55 yards.

Sequim avoided a disaster after a second half opening Rickerson fumble that gave Lynden the ball at the Sequim 3.

The Wolves held Lynden out of the end zone, the Lions settling for a 20-yard Santiago Lopez field goal that made it 17-0 with 10:12 left in the third quarter.

Sequim got a break midway through the third period, when Chris Goss recovered a Bomber fumble at the Lynden 24.

The Wolves could not take advantage and turned the ball over on downs after Rickerson's fourth-down pass fell incomplete at the Lynden 20.

The Lions administered a 6-play, 80-yard drive that broke the game open, the final dagger a 52-yard Hastings quarterback keeper with 44 seconds left in the third quarter, boosting the Lynden lead to 24-0.

Reserve quarterback Nyles Varner scored the final Lynden TD with 2:35 left on a 
6-yard run for the final 31-0 margin.

Sequim's Rickerson was held to 4 of 16 passing for 19 yards and an interception.

Lynden's Hastings was 5 of 15 for 35 yards and one touchdown. He added 125 rushing yards on 23 carries and a touchdown.

Sequim running back Travis Decker had 72 yards on 16 carries.

Lynden outgained Sequim 195-124.

Sequim finishes the season with a 10-2 mark.
