(Sequim) -- The Sequim boys basketball team broke open a nip and tuck contest in the final quarter Friday night at Rick Kaps Gym, defeating the Port Angeles Roughriders 45-31.

Sequim trailed PA 26-22 with 7 minutes left after Steve Rogers' basket for the Riders.

The Wolves held the Roughriders scoreless for the next 4-and-a-half minutes, taking the lead 27-26 with 5:10 to go on junior Nick Camporini's top of the circle trey.

Consecutive 3 point plays by Sequim, the first by Jeremie Oliver and the second on a putback by Frank Catelli, left Sequim up by 6 with 4:06 to play at 33-26.

Catelli led the Wolves with 10 points.

Oliver had all 9 of his points in the fourth quarter.

The run of 12 straight Sequim points ended with 2:14 left on Rider Antonio Stevenson's driving basket, making it 34-28.

Stevenson was the game's top scorer with 12.

The Wolves finished the contest on a 23-5 run, scoring 25 of their 45 points in the fourth quarter, while holding PA to just 9 in the final stanza.

John Textor paced Sequim with 9 points, while Justin Williams chipped in 6 for Port Angeles.

Port Angeles (3-2, 4-2) broke to an early lead at 7-2 midway through the first quarter and led 13-7 at the first break.

Sequim (3-1, 3-2) tied it at 20 and trailed by 2 going into the fourth quarter 22-20.

Port Angeles travels to Lynden Saturday night for a non-leaguer against the 2A Lions at 5 p.m.

Sequim will be in action next on December 29th and 30th at the Mountlake Terrace Tournament.
