(Sequim) -- Sequim scored its first win of the boys basketball season Friday night, defeating the Klahowya Eagles 61-49.
The foul-filled affair at Rick Kaps Gym saw the teams combine to shoot 65 free-throws, Sequim hitting 23 of their 39 attempts, while Klahowya converted 10 of 26 charity tosses.
The Wolves (1-0, 1-1) got an early 12-3 lead and had a 16-7 first quarter advantage after 2 three-pointers by Michael Dunning and another triple by Nick Camporini.
Dunning shared game-high honors with Klahowya's Brandon Neet at 15 points.
Sequim led by 17 at 25-8 with 3:54 left in the first half, before the Eagles managed to close it to 29-18 at halftime.
Klahowya (0-1, 0-2) closed within 7 at 32-25 midway through the third quarter, but Sequim pulled away to lead 45-29 at the third break.
Clancy Catelli added 11 for Sequim and John Textor scored 9 points.
6-5 center Andrew Holm paced Klahowya with 13 points.
Reserves for both squads finished the contest.
Sequim will host North Mason Tuesday night at Rick Kaps Gym.
