Sequim boys beat Bonanza, Nevada 52-46

The Sequim High Wolves boys basketball team won its first game in Nevada today.
Coach Greg Glasser's squad is competing at the Foothill Holiday Classic Tournament in the Greater Las Vegas area.
Sequim beat the Bonanza High Bengals of Nevada this afternoon 52-46.
Gabe Carter hit a triple with about 3-and-a-half minutes remaining to give the Wolves the lead for good. Sequim hit 8 of 11 free throws down the stretch to clinch the victory.
Carter led the Wolves with 11, while Alex Barry and Rory Kallappa had 10 points apiece.
Sequim JV Coach Phil Langston told KONP that the Wolves had trouble early with a trapping 2-3 zone defense. However, late in the first half, Sequim was energized by offensive rebounding and putback shots by Rory Kallappa and Erik Christensen.
Coach Langston says their effort ignited the rest of the squad to crash the boards and Sequim had an unofficial 14 offensive rebounds the rest of the way.
Anthony Pinza was credited for ball-handling, despite playing with an illness.
Sequim (7-2) plays again today against Abraham Lincoln High School of Denver at 3:40 p.m.
The Lincoln Lancers are 4-3 this season and play in Colorado's 5A division.
According to Maxpreps.com, the Lancers are led by 6-foot-9 power forward Gabriel Vazquez, averaging 15.4 points a game.
The Wolves will wrap up the tourney with a game against the Valhalla High Norseman of El Cajon, California tomorrow at 3:40 p.m at Foothill High.
