(Sequim) -- Jayson Brocklesby scored a career-high 35 points as the Sequim High Wolves boys basketball team outran the Port Angeles Roughriders 85-70 Friday night at Rick Kaps Gym.
Sequim (6-2 overall and 6-1 in the Olympic League) moved into a second place tie with Bremerton, after the Knights lost to the Olympic Trojans 81-74 in a battle for first place Friday.
Port Angeles (0-9 overall and 0-7 in league) got a team-high 25 from Hayden Gunderson.
Brocklesby and Gunderson matched points in the opening quarter with 13 apiece.
Gunderson had 3 treys as the lead changed hands 6 times before a 15-6 Wolves run put the hosts ahead 25-15 at the first buzzer.
Gabe Carter scored 9 of his 16 points in the second period, boosting Sequim to a 44-30 halftime lead.
Brocklesby scored 17 in the third quarter as Sequim led 69-48 after three periods.
Caleb Trieder zeroed in for 4 triples in the second half and had 16 points for the Riders.
Garrett Payton added 14 for PA before fouling out with 4:51 left.
Sequim's Alex Barry and Rory Kallappa had 8 points apiece.
Sixth highest game in Sequim history
Brocklesby's 35 point night ranked sixth in the Sequim record book for Most Points Scored in a Game.
He left the contest with about 5 minutes remaining as Sequim Coach Greg Glasser played his entire bench in the final quarter.
Previous Sequim 35 point efforts came from Ryan Kaps (1988-89) against Olympic, Ryan Topper (1991-92) vs. Bremerton, James McCutcheon (2000-01) vs. Port Townsend and Ian Austin (2006-07) vs. Olympic.
Chad Jacobs hold the Sequim record with 41 against North Kitsap in 1997-98.
Weather causes cancellations
Boys and Girls games between North Mason and Klahowya, as well as Kingston and North Kitsap were cancelled Friday due to bad weather.
The Bremerton girls beat Olympic Friday 61-48.
Upcoming Games:
Port Angeles will have a rematch with Centralia Thursday, then meets River Ridge Friday.
Sequim will play over the New Year at the Foothill Holiday Classic in Henderson, Nevada.
On January 2nd, the Wolves meet Bonanza, Nevada at 1 p.m and Abraham Lincoln of Denver, Colorado at 3 p.m.
On January 3rd, Sequim plays Valhalla, California at 3:40 p.m.
