PREP BASKETBALL: Sequim boys 67, Olympic 54

(Sequim) -- The Sequim High Wolves boys basketball team knocked off the Olympic Trojans 67-54 Friday night at Rick Kaps Gym.
Jayson Brocklesby scored 32 points as the Wolves tagged Olympic with its first league loss and moved into a tie with the Trojans for the circuit lead at 8-1.
Olympic (10-3 overall) opened the contest with the first six points before Sequim responded with an 11-6 rally and trailed 12-11 at the first buzzer.
Brocklesby tallied 7 in the first and added 10 more in the second frame as Sequim led 27-19 at halftime.
Sequim held the Trojans' Quentin Phillips, the league's leading scorer at nearly 20 a game to 4 points in the first half and just 11 for the night.
Olympic's RJ Neal hit for 6 of his 8 points in the third and the Trojans closed to 35-34, completing a 15-8 run.
The Wolves kept composure as Brocklesby knocked down 7 more tallies and Gabe Carter hit a big triple that pushed the Sequim advantage to 41-34 at the third horn.
Carter had 7 points and led the Wolves in rebounding and assists.
Olympic's Brian Tyson, who had the game-winning triple in Silverdale against Sequim in December, led another fourth quarter Trojans rally.
Tyson canned 9 of his team-high 20 markers in the final period before fouling out with 14 seconds left.
The Trojans closed to 47-44, but Brocklesby managed to penetrate the Olympic zone repeatedly in the final stanza, dropping all six of his freebies.
Alex Barry connected on a trey putting Sequim up by 10 with 2 minutes to go.
Wolves point guard Anthony Pinza had a tremendous ball-handling game against the relentless back court pressure from the Trojans.
Pinza connected on 9 of his 10 free throws, finishing with 9.
Oly's Kyle Setten was strong inside for the Trojans and had 7 before fouling out with 4:12 to go.
Sequim's Erik Christensen continued to polish his post moves with 7 tallies.

Jayson Brocklesby now has 3 games this season above 30 points (35, 35, 32).

Ryan Kaps has the record of 5 in 1988-89 (40, 38, 35, 32, 32)

The 35 point games are tied for 6th on the list of Most Points Scored in a game for Sequim.

The 32 point game is tied for 8th, previously done by Kaps (twice), Todd Franklin, Chad Payne, Chad Jacobs, James McCutcheon, Dan Lauritzen and Corbin Webb.
Sequim (10-3 overall) is idle until a road game at Kingston Friday.
In other Olympic League boys games Friday, Port Angeles beat North Mason 68-62, Bremerton downed Klahowya 74-41 and Kingston drubbed Port Townsend 68-36.
Olympic League girls scores include Olympic beating Sequim 46-31, Kingston squeezed past Port Townsend 37-35, Port Angeles ripped North Mason 53-33 and Bremerton doubled Klahowya 54-27.
