12 13 Boys Basketball Game 10 - Lincoln (CO) 67, Sequim 49

Lincoln (Denver, CO) 67, Sequim 49

Abraham Lincoln of Denver, a 5A Colorado school beat the 2A Wolves from Sequim 67-49.


Sophomore guard Michael Sparks connected on 5 treys on the way to a game-high 21 points.


6-foot-9 forward Gabriel Vasquez had 9 of his 13 points in the second half on cuts and slashes to the hoop.


Sequim frustrated Vasquez in the first half with the defense of 6-4 Andrew Shimer and a double down from 5-8 guard Anthony Pinza.


Lincoln led 31-26 at intermission.


6-7 senior Daniel Ebert added 4 points for Lincoln and contributed defensive board help as the smaller Wolves were limited to one shot for most of the contest.


Rory Kallappa led the Wolves with 14 points, all in the second half.


Gabe Carter added 11 for Sequim, Jayson Brocklesby had 7 and Pinza and Alex Barry added 6 apiece.  


Carter also had 6 assists including feeds to Kallappa for inside baskets and Tim Guan for a triple.


Barry, a 6-2 sophomore, was credited for his rebounding by Sequim coaches.


Sequim (7-3) will wrap up the tourney with a game against the Valhalla High Norseman of El Cajon, California tomorrow at 3:40 p.m at Foothill High.
