PREP BASKETBALL: Sequim boys 67, North Mason 46

(Sequim) -- Gabe Carter scored 22 points and Jayson Brocklesby added 19 as the Sequim Wolves overcame a sluggish first half and defeated the North Mason Bulldogs 67-46 Tuesday night at Rick Kaps Gym.
The Wolves (10-1) share the Olympic League boys basketball lead with the Olympic Trojans, a 56-37 winner over Kingston Tuesday.
After three consecutive victories over league powers Bremerton, Olympic and Kingston, Sequim lacked its usual sharpness in the first 16 minutes.
The Wolves were up 16-10 after the first quarter, but the fiesty Boys from Belfair tied the contest on four occasions and the lead changed hands 9 times in the first half.
Andrew Shimer's bucket in the paint with 4 seconds remaining gave Sequim a 29-28 advantage at intermission.
The Bulldogs' Riley McKean scored 10 of his team-high 12 points in the first half, including a pair of second quarter treys.
Sequim added zest to its second half performance, energizing a 10-3 run that opened a double digit lead.
Carter smoked the nets for 11 points with 3 triples in the third quarter.
He hit 6 of his 11 trey attempts for the game, adding 7 rebounds and 6 assists.


Carter was also honored prior to tipoff with a commemorative plaque marking his school-record rebounding record.
Carter passed the 1989 mark of 497 career rebounds by Derrin Doty last week.
The Wolves led by 15 going to the final stanza - 50-35.
North Mason was limited to 18 points in the second half.
The Wolves' Alex Barry scored all 7 of his points in the final quarter.
North Mason was paced by CJ Allen with 9 and Anthony Price added 8.
Sequim (12-3 overall) travels to Klahowya Friday, while North Mason (2-13 overall, 1-11 in Olympic League play) hosts Olympic.
Other Olympic League boys scores Tuesday include North Kitsap beating Port Angeles 80-66, Port Townsend over Klahowya 49-41 and Olympic downing Kingston 56-37.
In Olympic League girls play, Sequim beat North Mason 39-34, North Kitsap handed Port Angeles its first loss in circuit play 51-42, Olympic dropped Kingston 49-37 and Port Townsend drubbed Klahowya 47-31.
