Jayson Brocklesby matched his career-high with 35 points as the Sequim High Wolves boys basketball team knocked off Valhalla High of El Cajon, California 57-45 Thursday.
Sequim wrapped up a two-day visit at the Las Vegas area's Foothill Holiday Classic Tournament, winning two out of three contests.
Brocklesby had 18 at intermission, with most of his markers coming on dribble drives and putbacks.
He finished 2 for 5 from beyond the arc.
The Wolves (8-3) led 30-18 at halftime against the Norsemen, who play in the San Diego Section Division 2.
Sequim JV Coach Phil Langston says the Wolves were more patient in Thursday's contest with better ball movement that led to a number of backdoor cuts to the open hoop.
Valhalla (8-4) was a smaller, quick team that preferred dribble penetration with a kick-out pass for a open 3-pointer.
The Wolves, though, outrebounded the Norsemen 35-27 and generally limited their opposition to one shot in the second half.
Gabe Carter paced Sequim with 11 points, most coming in the final minutes on assertive drives to the hoop.
Coach Langston lauded Alex Barry for his rebounding and ball handling.
Anthony Pinza was praised for his passing to shooters.
Rory Kallappa received kudos for his defense on Valhalla shooter David Gazale, who finished with a team-high 15.
Sequim (8-3) beat Bonanza, Nevada 52-46 and lost to Lincoln of Denver, Colorado 67-49 Wednesday.
The Wolves took in a college basketball game between UNLV and Chicago State Thursday night.
The team will catch a flight back to Seattle Friday afternoon.
Sequim hosts Bremerton Tuesday night in Olympic League action.
