PREP BASKETBALL: Sequim boys 72, North Kitsap 57

(Sequim) -- The Sequim Wolves ran their winning streak to seven straight Tuesday night, topping the North Kitsap Vikings 72-57 at Rick Kaps Gym.
The Wolves improved to 12-1 in Olympic League boys basketball play and maintained their first place tie with the Olympic High Trojans, an 84-39 winner over Klahowya Tuesday.
Jayson Brocklesby led Sequim (14-3 overall) with 26 points and 8 rebounds.
He had 8 markers in a slow moving first stanza and the Wolves led 12-4 at the break.
Sequim pushed its advantage to 21-10 early in the second, but North Kitsap's Kendall Gill dropped in a pair of threes to keep it close, the first of his 15 points.
The Wolves were ahead 32-22 at intermission.
Physical second half play:
The intensity and physicality of the contest ramped up as the Vikings continued to rally after halftime.
North edged to within 4 -- 33-29 -- before the Wolves pushed ahead 42-31, a run that included a key trey by Gabe Carter.
Carter finished with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists.
The officials whistled 3 technical fouls in the third frame -- on Vikings Coach Tony Chisholm and a double technical on Sequim's Erik Christensen and North's Riley Lindsey.
After a 17-4 Wolves run, North scored 10 straight and narrowed it to 50-43 at the third quarter horn.
The Wolves' Alex Barry had one of his finest efforts of the season with 12 points and 7 rebounds.
He connected on a pair of triples early in the final period that boosted Sequim's lead back to double digits, where it remained for the rest of the contest.
Point guard Anthony Pinza paced the Wolves with 10 points.
North Kitsap's Jacob Hill had 10 before fouling out with 1:42 remaining.
Tuesday's contest marked the final home game for 7 Sequim seniors: Brocklesby, Carter, Dylan Eekhoff, Tim Guan, Donovan Lee, Jedd Posadas and Andrew Shimer.
Olympic League Scores:
In other Olympic League boys action Tuesday, Kingston whipped North Mason 68-40, Olympic pounded Klahowya 84-39 and Bremerton trounced Port Townsend 71-47.
Olympic League girls scores Tuesday include North Kitsap beating Sequim 44-25, Bremerton downing Port Townsend 59-25, Olympic over Klahowya 52-31 and Kingston ground past North Mason 24-19.
Both the Port Angeles boys and girls were idle Tuesday. Sequim and PA will tangle in a girls - boys doubleheader Thursday night at Port Angeles High School.
