PREP BASKETBALL: Sequim boys 91, Port Angeles 55

(Port Angeles) -- A pair of big first half runs by the Sequim boys basketball team broke open an early struggle against Port Angeles as the Wolves beat Roughriders 91-55 Thursday night.
The Wolves improved to 13-1 in Olympic League play, a half-game ahead of idle Olympic for the circuit lead.
The Trojans (12-1) and third-place Bremerton (11-2) meet tonight in Silverdale.
It was basket-for-basket in the early going at the Rider Gym as Sequim's Jayson Brocklesby and PA's Hayden Gunderson exchanged opening treys.
Gunderson was the game-high scorer with 27 and Brocklesby had a team-high 25.
After 10 early lead changes, a triple by Anthony Pinza put Sequim ahead for good at 18-16.
An 8-0 Wolves run was highlighted by a steal and jam by Jason Brocklesby, who buried a left corner trey giving Sequim a 23-16 lead at the first klaxon.
Brocklesby, Rory Kallappa and Andrew Shimer fueled a 21-2 streak for the Wolves late in the second period and the visitors went to the locker room ahead 50-26.
Sequim (13-1 overall) led by 35 at the end of third quarter -- 75-40.
Wolves reserves played most of the final stanza.  

Sequim's 91 points ranked as the fifth highest single-game scoring output in school history.
Alex Barry had a career-high 19 for Sequim, Andrew Shimer scored 10 and Anthony Pinza 8.
Port Angeles (3-15 overall, 2-12 in Olympic League play) got 9 from Hunter Hathaway, while Caleb Trieder, Garrett Payton and Derek Schumacher scored 4 points apiece.

The Riders lost their fifth consecutive game, while the Wolves boosted their winning streak to eight straight.
The Roughriders conclude the campaign with home games, Tuesday against Port Townsend and Friday with Olympic.

Sequim finishes the regular season on the road, Tuesday at Bremerton and Friday at Port Townsend.
