PREP BOYS DISTRICT BASKETBALL: Lindbergh 56, Sequim 53

(Tacoma)-- Lindbergh's James Keum scored 24 points, including 3 free throws with 22 seconds left, as the Eagles eliminated the Sequim Wolves 56-53 in the consolation round of the 2A West Central District boys basketball tournament at Foss High School Saturday.
Lindbergh will face Port Angeles, a 62-43 winner over Olympic, in the consolation final at 6 Monday at Foss with the victor taking the district's 6th seed to the regionals Friday at Mount Tahoma.
Keum connected on two treys as Lindbergh opened an early 17-7, on the way to a 19-11 at the first quarter break.
Sequim came back and took a 25-23 lead after a basket by Jason Brocklesby and a Gabe Carter free throw with 2:19 left in the first half.
The Eagles managed a 7-2 run because of Sequim turnovers in the final 1:30 of the second quarter and led 30-27 at intermission.
The Wolves trailed 38-36 after three quarters, despite two treys in the period by Carter, who finished with 19 points.
A Sequim bench technical foul with six and a half minutes left resulted in two Keum free throws and a nine point lead for Lindbergh at 45-36.
Corbin Webb hit a free throw, then Nick Camporini nailed a triple to cut the deficit to 45-40 with 5:55 to go.
Diondre Toms connected from beyond the arc making it 48-40 with 5 minutes left.
Webb answered with his own three, chopping the lead to 48-43.
Carter got the Wolves within two at 50-48 on a triple with 2:30 remaining, then Kenny Meier scored on a layup off a steal to tie the contest at 50.
Sequim missed an opportunity to go ahead after Meier missed a triple, then fouled Keum on a 3-ball attempt with 22 seconds to go.
Keum hit all three shots for a 53-50 advantage.
After a Wolves turnover and a missed Lindbergh one-and-one attempt, Camporini buried a left-wing trey with with 3.7 seconds left as Sequim closed to 54-53.
Dewayne Brown of Lindbergh was fouled and made two freebies, pushing back out to 56-53.
Brown had 14 points for the Eagles, while Toms added 8.
Corbin Webb got Sequim last shot after a timeout but was short on the 45 footer as time expired.
The contest was the final prep game for Sequim's Nick Camporini and Kenny Meier.
The Wolves finished the season with a 17-9 mark.
In girls action Saturday afternoon, the Foster Bulldogs knocked the Sequim Lady Wolves out of the district tournament with a 74-54 victory.
