PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Kingston 73, Sequim 62

(Kingston) -- Zane Ravenholt scored 20 points and Richie Sander hit for 17 as the Olympic League champion Kingston Buccaneers beat the Sequim Wolves 73-62 Friday night.
George Hill connected for 16 points and Jon George added 10 tallies as the Bucs improved to 15-4 overall and 14-1 in circuit play.
Kingston scorched the net on 5 of 7 treys in the opening period, leading 21-13 at the first quarter klaxon.
The Buccaneers led by 16 at 36-20 in the second quarter before Jayson Brocklesby connected on consecutive triples for Sequim and the Wolves cut the deficit to eight at intermission -- 36-28.
Brocklesby was the game-high scorer with 21 markers. Combined, the teams connected on 39 of the 64 first-half points from beyond the three-point arc.
The Wolves got to within six at 42-36 on Gabe Carter's running 10-footer with 4:50 left in the third quarter.
Carter finished with 16 tallies.
However, Kingston pushed its advantage back to 12 points on a pair of hoops in the paint by Ravenholt and a trey by Sander.
Sequim sophomore Tim Guan nailed a buzzer-beating triple as the Wolves trailed 52-43 going to the final stanza.
The Wolves got as close as 7 on a Brocklesby trey at 55-48, but the Bucs answered every Sequim challenge.
Nick Camporini paced the Wolves with 18 points.
Sequim dropped to 14-6 overall and 10-5 in Olympic League action.
The Wolves play at Port Angeles Tuesday needing a win to force a post-game coin flip with the Roughriders to determine the second seed into the subdistrict tournament beginning Thursday.
