PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL - Sequim 49, Renton 39

(Sumner) -- Sequim senior Lea Hopson scored 16 points and sophomore Rylleigh Zbaraschuk added 14 as the Lady Wolves beat the Renton Indians 49-39 at Sumner High School.
The victory guarantees a West Central District Tournament appearance for the Wolves beginning Tuesday.
Sequim will play the winner of last night's Interlake/Fife game today (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at Sumner for the 9th and 11th seeds into district.
The game was tight early with 3 ties and 3 lead changes before the Wolves moved out to a 12-9 first quarter lead.
Turnovers kept either team from establishing a clear advantage in the first half, as the squads combined for 50 miscues on the night.
Sequim took a 20-18 edge into intermission.
The Wolves outscored the Indians 20-7 in the third period, taking a 15 point lead into the final stanza -- 40-25.
Renton couldn't get closer than 10 the rest of the way.
Haleigh Harrison paced Sequim with 9 points.
Freshman Taylor Farris led Renton with 14 tallies and P.J. Tuiasosopo added 11 for the Indians, who wrap up the season with a 6-13 mark.
