Sequim boys beat Klahowya 63-42

(Sequim) -- Senior Jackson Oliver scored 21 points and sophomore Payton Glasser added 15 as the Sequim Wolves beat the Klahowya Eagles 63-42 in a non-league boys basketball game at Rick Kaps Gym.
Senior guard Payton Ryen single-handedly kept Klahowya in the contest early, scoring all 11 first quarter points by the Eagles, including a pair of triples.
Sequim led 12-11 after the first buzzer with Oliver and Glasser each with a pair of two-pointers.
A Klahowya basket by Troy Potter gave the visitors their first and only lead of the game at 13-12.
The Wolves responded with a 21-3 run into halftime, scoring 15 straight until John Hartford nailed a Klahowya triple to cut the deficit to 27-16.
The Sequim streak included 3 treys, scored by Glasser and freshmen Kyler Rollness and Nate Despain.
Along the way, Oliver had a rim-rattling breakway jam that brought a thunderous ovation from the crowd.
The Wolves had a 33-16 lead at intermission.
Sequim extended its advantage to 20 points with 3-point splashes from Oliver and Nick Faunce, but the scrappy Eagles, led by Nate Hough and Keegan Grellner, trailed 49-32 after 3 quarters.
Faunce and Jack Shea had 6 points apiece for Sequim, while Klahowya's Hough had 8 markers, Hartford 7 and Grellner had 4 tallies.
On Tuesday, Sequim (1-1) travels to Bremerton, while Klahowya (0-3) visits North Kitsap.
