White River stings Sequim girls 66-28

(Buckley) -- Sophomore Kendall Bird scored 23 points as the White River Hornets stung the Sequim Wolves 66-28 Wednesday night in a girls 2A West Central District opener.
The Wolves struggled with the Hornets back court press and trailed 16-5 at the first buzzer.
Bird flourished inside, scoring 14 in the first half and ending up 7-of-12 from the charity stripe.
Hornets senior Kristin Sturdivan rifled in 4 triples on the way to a 16 point outing.
White River had a commanding 34-8 lead at intermission.
Kylee Williams led Sequim with 8 points, Caitlin Stofferahn had 6 and Jordan Miller added 5 for the Wolves.
Maci Goethals chipped in 16 for White River and Amanda Lance had 7.
The Hornets (19-2 overall) meet North Kitsap, a 55-18 victor over Evergreen Wednesday, on Friday night at 7:45 at Curtis High in Tacoma for a quarterfinal matchup.
The Wolves (9-12 overall) play Evergreen Friday night at 7:45 at Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma in a loser out consolation bracket contest.
