Sequim girls 49, Port Townsend 46

(Sequim) -- Alexas Besand scored 20 points and Melanie Guan added 12 as the Sequim Lady Wolves downed Port Townsend 49-46 Friday night at Rick Kaps Gym.
Besand nailed 3 triples in the first quarter and had all but 2 of the Wolves 15 first quarter points.
Sequim led 15-14 at the first buzzer, but trailed the Lady Redskins 26-23 at intermission after Townsend's Jayde Richardson powered in 12 first half markers.
Richardson led the visitors with 15, Rilke Rutenbeck had 11 and Jewel Johnson added 10.
Wolves sophomore Jordan Miller canned a pair of third quarter treys as Sequim closed the gap to 34-33 heading into the final frame.
Sequim point guard Melanie Guan had 10 of her 12 points in the fourth period as the Wolves held on for the victory.
Sequim (1-0) hosts Eastside Catholic Saturday afternoon at 3, while Port Townsend (1-1 overall, 0-1 in Olympic League play) visits Kingston Wednesday.
