(Tacoma) - The Sequim girls fell behind by 15 points, then mounted a comeback, only to fall short in a 42-38 loss to the Fife Trojans in the West Central District basketball game Wednesday at Wilson High School.

The Wolves recovered from a 22-0 Fife run in the second and third periods, cut the lead to two points in the final two minutes, but the Trojans held on and won at the foul line.

Sequim finishes 8-14 on the year and Fife goes on to face Olympic Friday for a regional berth.

Ella Christiansen led Sequim with 15 points, all triples. Adrienne Haggerty had 14.

Fife trailed 19-12 midway through the second period, then ran off 12 to take a 24-19 halftime lead.

The Trojans scored 10 more in a row to start the third quarter, taking a 36-22 lead into the final period.

Sequim's pressure defense got them going, closing to 38-36, but Christina Willis of the Trojans hit three free throws in the last 40 seconds to hold off the Wolves.
