Olympic boys top Sequim 56-48

(Sequim) -- The Olympic High Trojans pulled away on an 8-2 run in the final two-and-a-half minutes to defeat the Sequim High Wolves 56-48 Friday night at Rick Kaps Gym.
The victory gives the Trojans the Olympic League 2A Division lead with a 3-0 record, improving to 6-2 overall.
Makaleb McInnis finished a 3-on-2 fast break with 2:30 remaining, then hit a free throw to put the Trojans ahead for good 49-46.
McInnis had 9 points for the Trojans.
Sequim's Alex Barry was the game's top scorer with 22 points and connected on his final basket with 1:36 left that cut the Trojans' advantage to 49-48.
The Wolves did not score again, while Keshun McGee got a layup, McInnis hit 3 charity shots and Damarius Johnson putback a missed freebie in the final 90 seconds to clinch Olympic's win.
The nip-and-tuck contest saw the lead change hands 8 times and was tied on 8 occasions.
McGee paced Olympic with 14 tallies and Tyler Yost had 7.
Erik Turnquist had two key triples in the fourth quarter for the Trojans, finishing with 6 markers.
Sequim falls to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in Olympic League 2A Division play.
Dustin Bates had 8 for Sequim and Vance Willis added 7.
The Wolves struggled at the free throw line, hitting just 5 of 14 shots.
Olympic hosts the Capital Cougars Saturday night, while Sequim will be idle until December 29th, when the Wolves travel to Seattle for a non-league matchup with Ingraham.
