Sequim 47, Chimacum 21

(Sequim) -- Senior quarterback Miguel Moroles ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as the Sequim High Wolves stomped the Chimacum Cowboys 47-21 in a non-league season opener Friday night.
Sequim freshman Gavin Velarde scored 17 of the Wolves points, with a 60-yard TD reception and 13-yard run, plus five extra point kicks.
The Wolves broke an 11-game losing streak, dating back to October 19th, 2012, when Sequim beat Port Angeles 34-7 at Civic Field.
Chimacum (0-1) scored first, taking advantage of a fumble on the opening kickoff, driving 35 yards in 6 plays with tailback Drew Yackulic scoring on a 3-yard run.
The Cowboys were ahead 6-0, a lead that lasted just two plays. Moroles sprinted 63 yards for Sequim on a keeper, putting the Wolves on top 7-6.
Seven consecutive Sequim touchdowns triggered the mercy rule with 1:08 remaining in the third period when the hosts forged ahead 47-6 after a 1-yard TD run by freshman Hayden Gresli.
Junior running back Ty Jones had a pair of scoring runs for the Wolves, from 37 and 5 yards, respectively.
Chimacum scored a couple of TD's in the final quarter, a 1-yard run by Victor Hitt and a 50-yard interception return by Lane Dotson.
Sequim (1-0) will visit Coupeville next Friday, while the Cowboys entertain the Forks Spartans.
