North Kitsap smothers Sequim 33-13

(Poulsbo) -- A smothering North Kitsap defense kept Sequim without an offensive touchdown Friday night as the Vikings defeated the Wolves 33-13.
Sequim (3-1 overall and 1-1 in Olympic League 2A Division) got a pair of kickoff returns for touchdowns by freshman Gavin Velarde - a 95-yarder to open the game and a 91-yarder with 1:23 left in the contest.

The Vikings (4-0 overall and 1-0 in the Olympic League 2A Division) tied the game at 6-6 with 7:55 left in the opening quarter on quarterback Alex Allbee's 1-yard sneak.
A Sequim fumble at the North 48 triggered a quick Vikings drive -- 52 yards in 3 plays -- with fullback Kyle North blasting the final 5 yards as NK had a 13-6 advantage with 9:16 until halftime.
A 26-yard Kyle North run was the key play in another Vikings TD march, capped by TJ Jensen's 8-yard run with 6:28 left in the half, boosting the score to 20-6, NK's halftime cushion.
Jensen tallied his 2nd TD, also from 8 yards with 1:48 left in the 3rd period, making it 27-6 NK.
Backup running back Sam Henden visited the Sequim end zone with 1:45 left, pushing the lead to 33-6.
North Kitsap visits North Mason next week, while Sequim hosts Centralia in a non-leaguer.
