(Kingston) -- Kingston held off a fourth quarter Sequim rally in the final minute Friday night, taking a 60-57 Olympic League boys basketball game from the Wolves.
The Kingston victory, combined with a North Mason loss to Bremerton, elevates the Buccaneers into a tie with the Bulldogs for the first 2A seed into district play with 8-3 records.
The loss leaves the Wolves as the third 2A seed by 1 1/2 games with four regular season contests remaining.
Corbin Webb and John Textor connected on 3-pointers in the first quarter as Sequim took a 17-5 lead into the second period.
The Bucs switched from a 2-3 zone into a 1-3-1 look in the second period and Sequim's shooting turned stone cold.
The Wolves' drought covered the first six minutes of the quarter, as the Buccaneers tied the game at 12 and continued a run of 18 consecutive points, taking an 11-point lead at 23-12 inside the final 2 minutes before intermission.
Sequim would spend the rest of the game trying to catch up.
Webb and Jeremie Oliver hit baskets before halftime as the Wolves trailed 25-17 at the break.
Sequim (7-5 in Olympic League play, 7-8 overall) was down by 5 points going the final period 42-37 after 3 baskets from beyond the arc by Webb, Clancy Catelli and Michael Dunning.
Sequim trailed by six, 53-47, with 2:19 remaining when Webb cut the deficit in half with a three-ball.
Dunning tied it at 53 with another trey with 1:35 to go.
Ryan Byers gave the Bucs the advantage at 55-53 with 1:15 to go, then Textor tied it again at 55 with 50 seconds left. Textor finished with 10 points.
Kingston (8-3 in Olympic League play, 11-4 overall) went inside to 6-3 post Zane Ravenholt, who finished with a game-high 20 points, on consecutive possessions and the junior scored a free throw, then a basket to give the home squad a 58-55 lead with 26 seconds to go.
Webb hit a Sequim basket from the right elbow to cut it to one, 58-57.
The Bucs finished the job with single free throws by Byers and George Hill.
A final Sequim shot for the potential tie was taken after the final buzzer.
Webb led the Wolves with 14 and Oliver had a season-high 11 points.
Sequim will play a non-league game at Washougal High School in Clark County this afternoon.
