14 Football Game 7 - Port Angeles 20, Sequim 14 (OT)

PA beats Sequim 20-14 in overtime

October 17th, 2014 - 11:59pm

(Port Angeles) -- Kellen Landry caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Rodocker in overtime as the Port Angeles Roughriders beat the Sequim Wolves 20-14 in the Rainshadow Rumble at Civic Field.
The winning play came on the first snap of the Riders' possession of the Kansas Tiebreaker, after Sequim's Adrian Espinoza missed a 37-yard field goal attempt to end the Wolves' turn with the ball in extra session.
Rodocker completed 2 of his 5 passes for 37 yards, both to Landry.
Both teams are now 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the Olympic League 2A Division with the Riders gaining the important head-to-head tiebreaker from the Wolves in the race for the third and fourth seeds into the playoffs.
North Kitsap and Olympic have clinched the top 2 seeds from the Olympic League.

The Roughriders opened the game with an illegal procedure penalty, then reeled off an 18-play, 76-yard march to score with Nathan Angevine's 1-yard dive.

The Riders led 14-7 after another long grind of 11 plays and 51 yards, Angevine scoring on a 5-yard run on 4th-and-Goal with 5:36 left before intermission.
Scoreless 3rd and 4th quarters
After a quick Sequim 3-and-out to start the second half, Port Angeles took possession at its own 5-yard-line and drove for almost 9 minutes.
The Roughriders just misses the go-ahead score on a 4th-and-8 pass attempt from Rodocker to Miki Andrus, who caught the ball but beyond the back line of the end zone, turning the pigskin back to Sequim with 1:34 left in the third period.
The Wolves moved the ball into PA territory, aided by a Moroles 15-yard scramble, topped with a Port Angeles personal foul penalty.
Sequim stalled and Espinoza attempted a 36-yard field goal that had plenty of leg, but was wide left with 9:47 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Port Angeles had a golden opportunity to drive to the winning score after Sequim's Chris Whitaker fumbled to the Riders at the Sequim 42 with 4:17 left.
Sequim's defense rose to the occasion and blasted Landry for a 2-yard loss on 4th-and-1 from the Wolves 33 with 2:04 to go.
The Wolves ended up turning the ball back over to PA on downs with :44 seconds left in regulation.
Port Angeles had four plays -- two deep pass attempts -- then punted back to the Wolves with just 3 seconds to go.
Moroles took a knee and teams headed for the extra session in the 14-all deadlock.
