Sequim beats North Mason 26-20 in overtime

(Sequim) -- Senior quarterback Miguel Moroles scored his fourth and final touchdown on a 1-yard keeper in overtime, propelling the Sequim High Wolves to a 26-20 Olympic League 2A Division victory over the North Mason Bulldogs.
A huge Homecoming throng left the stadium with happy faces after an emotional roller coaster in the fourth quarter.
Each team had 2 interceptions in the final period with every turnover seemingly more critical to the outcome of regulation play that ended in a 20-20 tie.
Marathon Bulldog march gives North Mason lead
The contest was deadlocked 13-13 at intermission and the end of the third quarter.
Second half momentum swung to North Mason after the Bulldogs grinding wishbone attack powered to a 21-play, 80-yard march that ate up 10 minutes and 47 seconds.
Fullback Cole Rinehart capped the drive on a 2-yard touchdown run with 9:34 left in the final quarter, giving the Boys from Belfair a 20-13 advantage.
Sequim's defense rose to the occasion, leaving the Bulldogs to attempt a 4th-and-5 conversion from the Wolves 10.
The Wolves stopped Bulldogs' quarterback Matt Becker at the 5 for a critical turnover-on-downs with 6:53 to go in regulation.
Long TD run ties game for Sequim
On the third play of the Sequim drive from the Wolves 15, Moroles cut to the right corner, getting the sideline and sprinting 85 yards for the tying score at 20 with 6:20 left -- culminating the 33-second, 95-yard journey.
Possessions ping-ponged in the final six minutes, including another North Mason interception by Winslow and two picks by Sequim's Kane Stoddard of Becker.
The final Stoddard interception came on the final play of regulation when the Bulldogs were in a 4th-and-7 at their own 22.
Becker made the saving tackle, pushing Stoddard out-of-bounds at the Bulldogs 15.
North Mason had the ball first in OT
Energized in the initial possession by North Mason in the Kansas Tiebreaker overtime, Sequim stuffed a pair of belly plays to halfback D'Andre Dixon, bringing up a 3rd-and-11 from the Sequim 26.
Becker got 8 yards on a QB keeper, forcing the Bulldogs into a 4th-and-2 from the Wolves 18. An illegal procedure flag on North Mason pushed the conversion distance into 4th-and-7.
Sequim overtime march for victory
A fired up Wolves offensive unit covered the 25 yards to the winning score in 5 plays.
Fullback Chris Whitaker got the first 17 yards on a pair of off-tackle runs, setting up 1st-and-Goal at the Bulldogs 8.
Moroles got 5 yards on first down with a QB option, then Whitaker got to the North Mason 1 on second down.
Next week's action
North Mason (3-3 overall and 2-2 in Olympic League 2A play) will host the Olympic Trojans next Friday night, while Sequim (4-2 overall and 2-1 in Olympic League 2A play) will travel to Civic Field for the Rainshadow Rumble against the Port Angeles Roughriders.
