2013 Football Game 2 - River Ridge 43, Sequim 6

PREP FOOTBALL: River Ridge 43, Sequim 6

(Sequim) -- River Ridge of Lacey rolled up almost 400 yards of total offense Friday night, dismantling the Sequim High Wolves 43-6.
The speedy Hawks defense frustrated the Wolves all night long, shutting down the run and flustering Sequim quarterbacks into 4 interceptions - two of them "pick sixes" for touchdowns.
Sequim was held to 47 snaps and just 136 yards of total offense.
River Ridge running back Elijah Camacho scored the first of his two touchdowns on a 1-yard plunge with 88 seconds left in the opening period, putting the Hawks up 7-0.
Sequim's Nigel Christian intercepted Hawks quarterback Kobe Key at the Wolves 5 early in the second quarter to thwart a drive, but disaster struck on the next scrimmage play.
Throwing from his own end zone, junior QB Miguel Moroles had his pass deflected high into the air by a Hawks lineman and the carom fluttered into the awaiting hands of Gabe Fraser for a River Ridge TD making it 14-0.
Hawks defensive back Dejuan Frye, a featured burner on Ridge's 2013 state championship 400-meter relay team, intercepted the Wolves twice before halftime.
The first Frye pick, by Moroles, led to a 30-yard field goal from Chris Behnke that made it 17-0 Ridge, with 2:24 left.
Sequim freshman QB Dylan Lott was the victim of the second Frye pass pilfering, jumping in front of a receiver at the Ridge 47 and steaming down the sideline to the Sequim 1.
An illegal block penalty moved the ball back to the Sequim 33, but Kobe Key hit Frye for a 20-yard touchdown pass to increase the bulge to 24-0 at intermission.
Sequim held River Ridge to a turnover-on-downs on its first possession of the second half and Moroles drove the Wolves to the Hawks 12 after a 45 yard quarterback keeper.
On the next snap, Moroles rolled right and fired toward the end zone, but was picked off by the Hawks' Michael Key at the goal line and returned 100 yards to pay dirt, making it 30-0.
Camacho got his second score at the 2:23 mark of the third quarter on a 2-yard run and the Hawks were up 37-0.
Camacho rushed 19 times for 86 yards.
The final Ridge TD came 10 seconds into the final period on Key's 32-yard strike to Issiah Scott, with the visitors assuming a 43-0 lead.
Key hit 16 of 30 passes for 209 yards and 2 scores.
Sequim's only touchdown came with 5:47 remaining when freshman Dylan Lott maneuvered in front of his defender to pull in a 30-yard bomb from Chris Frick.
River Ridge ran 74 plays and racked up 398 yards, overcoming a whopping 21 penalties for 135 yards.
The Hawks travel to Ridgefield next week for a non-leaguer, while Sequim will host the Bremerton Knights Friday in the Olympic League opener.
