(Bainbridge) -- Joey Blacker scored 24 points and Trent Schulte added 20 as the Bainbridge Spartans outgunned the Sequim High Wolves 84-67 Tuesday night in a non-league boys basketball season opener.
Senior Jayson Brocklesby canned 5 treys and led the 2A Wolves of the Olympic League with 23 points.
Junior Rory Kallappa buried 10 of his 20 points in the third quarter as Sequim chopped a 12-point halftime deficit to 56-50 going into the final stanza.
However, the Spartans from the 3A Metro League sniped in 3 of their nine treys in the last 8 minutes and dropped 11 of 14 free throws down the stretch for a 28-17 final period advantage.
Sophomores Oscar Dieterich and Blake Swanson paced Bainbridge with 11 points apiece.
Sophomore Alex Barry chipped in 10 for Sequim, while senior Gabe Carter added 6 markers.
Sequim (0-1) hosts the Port Townsend Redskins in the Olympic League opener Friday night at Rick Kaps Gym.
